WELCOME
Last week we learned that we have a choice. In today’s verse we can see the choice. Will we answer the knock at the door and hang out with Jesus or will we ignore the knocking? Making a choice is not always easy. This choice has eternal rewards. Today we will look at what it means to commit to Team Jesus.
Let’s look at this verse: “See! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.” – Revelation 3:20. The person has a choice here. They can either open the door for God or ignore the knocking.
WARM-UP
Play Rock-Paper-Scissors. Have two captains who choose teams and then have players from opposite teams face off until one team is eliminated.
WORKOUT
Being chosen for a team feels really good, doesn’t it? When you are chosen you want to work hard to be the best teammate you can be. You are ready to put in the work. When you commit to Jesus, you are committing to following Him and His plans through the wins and the losses and the highs and the lows. You choose to trust Jesus when you believe and confess that Jesus is Lord and surrender your life to Him. That just means you will try to do what He is asking you to do. You will keep working to be a great teammate on Team Jesus.
So, are you ready to place your trust in Jesus? You do that through prayer. Prayer is talking with God. God knows your heart and is not concerned with your words as much as He is with the attitude of your heart – are you sorry and ready to be a teammate with Jesus?
Here’s a suggested prayer:
“Dear God, thank You for loving me and wanting the best for my life. I have lived my life for myself and done things my way, and I am truly sorry. Jesus, I believe that You are God and have forgiven all my sins by dying and coming back to life again for me. I trust You and ask You to be Lord of my life. I surrender my life to You. You are my God, my Savior and my Lord. Let me experience Your love and Your good plans for my life! Amen.”
WRAP-UP
Choosing to be on Team Jesus is the best choice we can make! If you made that choice today, welcome to the team! If you still have questions or are unsure, I encourage you to ask questions and listen closely to Huddle times.
