Week 7

God’s Game Plan

Coach’s Devotional

“But God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8

I can remember coaching a game where everything was going wrong. The offense wasn’t working. The defense was getting beat. We were being penalized left and right. I needed to be rescued.

We need a rescuer in our lives so God sent His Son, Jesus. This week might be the most important Huddle all season. We are diving into FCA’s Gospel presentation called The FOUR, and you will provide your athletes with an opportunity to respond.

The FOUR breaks down the Gospel into four simple statements:

  • The heart signifies that “God Loves You”.
  • The division symbol shows that “Sin Separates You.”
  • The cross demonstrates that “Jesus Rescues You.”
  • And the question mark is there to ask “Will You Trust Jesus?”

The greatest asset that you have as you share the Gospel is the Holy Spirit. Trust Him to also be the One doing the work in your athletes’ lives as you share. Pray ahead of time that He prepares your heart and theirs.

As you share The FOUR this week, remind your team that Jesus’ sacrifice leads to salvation. It’s a personal decision that each of them needs to make on their own. But it will be the greatest decision they will ever make.

  1. When have you needed to be rescued?
  1. Have you trusted Jesus?
  1. What difference can you see in your life since making the decision to trust Jesus?

Romans 10:9; John 1:12

“Lord, this week is really important. Please use me and lead me as I share the Gospel with my athletes. Soften their hearts to respond to Your calling on their life. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
