WELCOME
Let’s review! Leader go through each symbol so far and what it means:
The Heart – God Loves You
Divide – Sin Separates You
The Cross – Jesus Rescues You
Last week we learned that God loved us so much He sent Jesus to be a sacrifice for our sins. Jesus could be the last sacrifice ever because He lived a perfect life.
“Christ suffered for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but he died for sinners to bring you safely home to God. He suffered physical death, but he was raised to life in the Spirit.” 1 Peter 3:18
WARM-UP
Q: What would be your perfect day?
(Leader: have a few kids share. If you have time, share your idea of a perfect day.)
WORKOUT
Those days sound really fun!
Q: What is the hardest skill you have had to learn in this sport? Show us and we’ll try to guess what skill it is.
(Leader: call on a couple and have the group try to guess.)
I bet it took some time to learn that skill. Imagine being able to do the hardest skill (feel free to add in a hard skill relevant to the sport) perfectly the first time, every time. That is what we have in Jesus – a perfect example. For all of us to be able to be friends with God there had to be a perfect sacrifice – someone to take the punishment for us. Jesus did that because He lived a perfect life on earth and He loves us.
Q: What do you think that means – lived a perfect life?
Leader: Jesus always obeyed, he didn’t grumble or complain, etc. He did everything perfectly
Hebrews 4:15 explains that Jesus knows what it is like to be human
Q: What are things humans do? (work, sleep, eat, run, play)
and what it is like feel human things
Q: What are things humans feel? (happy, sad, angry, upset)
and Jesus knew what it was like to be tempted to do the wrong thing, but Jesus got through all of that without ever sinning.
Because of Jesus dying on the cross, you can feel God’s love daily, know God’s plans for you and have eternal life after death.
