God’s Game Plan
Coach’s Devotional
Ready:
“All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness.” – 2 Timothy 3:16
Set:
Words are important. As coaches, we know that words can hurt. Criticism, jeering crowds and false social media rumors sting especially when we are trying our best to lead our team well. Thankfully, there is a fundamental difference between people’s words and God’s Word!
People are imperfect and messy. God is perfect and whole.
Psalm 33:4 says, ““For the word of the Lord holds true, and we can trust everything he does.” We never have to guess or hope for the best. We can trust all the Words of God.
Proverbs 30:5 tells us that “Every word of God is pure; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.” Our athletes have gear that protects them while they practice and compete. With God, His Word is our protection – our armor. Each time we read the Bible, we are putting on another protective layer.
As you lead this week, put on the truth of God’s Word. You can trust God and His Word.
Go:
- What Bible verses have provided protection or comfort for you in the past?
- In what way does God’s Word protect you?
Workout:
Psalm 32:8; Isaiah 41:10; Psalm 119:89
Overtime:
“Dear God, thank You for Your Word and the protection it gives me. Lead me in truth and let me be convicted by it each day. Amen.”
