Week 5: Trust God’ Word

Warm-Up

Remember our first truth? You were made on purpose for a purpose.
Today we learn more about our second truth: You can trust God and His Word.

Play Two Truths and a Lie: pick a few people to share three things about themselves. Two are true and one is a lie. After they share have the group guess which one is the lie.

When we find out someone tells us a lie, what happens to our relationship with them?
When someone tells you the truth and you know it is true, how do you feel about that person?

Workout

Raise your hand if you have ever told a lie.

When we tell a lie, people’s trust in us weakens. They may also doubt us in the future; wondering
if we are speaking truth or not. When someone lies, our trust in them weakens. We may even doubt them in the future.

The good news is that we never have to doubt if God is telling us the truth or not.
You can trust God and His word.

This part of God’s Game Plan is truth. Truth is believing that what God says is true and
we can believe what He says. But where do we find this truth?
The truth is found in the Bible, and the Bible is God’s Word. Here’s an example:

“For the word of the Lordis right, and all his work is trustworthy.”– Psalms 33:4

When we step on our field of play, we often must wear gear to help protect us from getting injured. It’s almost like the gear we wear is armor. But with God, His Word and His promises are our armor. Each time we read the Bible, we are putting on another layer of protection from the bad things in this world.

Wrap-Up

“Dear God, thank You for Your Word and the protection and truth it gives me. Let me be bold with it each day. Amen.”
