Week 5: I Can Trust God’s Word

Coach's Corner

Warm-Up

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.” – 2 Timothy 3:16

1. Show of hands–who here likes to be told when they’ve done something wrong?
2. Has being corrected ever helped you be a better athlete or a better person?

Workout

When I put together a game plan for the team, I get as much information as I can to help everyone succeed. My hope is that you will all trust the game plan and study it so you can stay on the right path.

In the same way, God has put together everything we need to know about our lives in the Bible or what we also call God’s Word. Have you read the Bible before?

God’s Word is very important because it teaches us what is true. 2 Timothy 3:16a says,

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true.”

God’s Word also teaches us what is good and right.

“For the word of the Lord holds true,
and we can trust everything he does.”
– Psalm 33:4

When we know what is true and what is good and right, we can make good choices in order to live out God’s great purpose for our lives!

Let’s Huddle up and shout, “I can trust God’s Word!”

Wrap-Up

Let’s wrap up with a prayer:
“Dear God, thank You for giving us the Bible. Help me to learn the truth of Your Word so that I can trust You more and more every day. Amen.”
