WELCOME:
For the past two weeks we have learned the first symbol: the heart and about God’s love for us and how boundless it is.
Leader: What is the next symbol? (allow answers) The division sign is what happened to hurt our relationship with God. It means Sin Separates Us.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” -Romans 3:23
WARM-UP:
Follow the Leader or Monkey See, Monkey Do (copy the actions of a leader– no talking)
Q: How many times did you mess up in today’s game?
Q: Why do we do sometimes do things we know are wrong?
WORKOUT:
The verse for this week says everyone has sinned but what does that mean? Sin is anytime we do things our own way instead of God’s way. For example, if Coach taught a certain way to do a skill but you insisted on doing it wrong that would be silly. But every time we know what we should do and we don’t or we purposely do the wrong thing we are sinning. The verse also says everyone has sinned. That means everyone – all people.
Q: How do you feel when you know you did something wrong?
God cannot stand sin. “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).
The truth we need to understand is that sin separates us from God. We cannot experience God’s love when we ignore Him or do things the way we want. When we sin, we stop our relationship with God.
WRAP-UP:
This sounds bad. If we do things wrong and that stops our relationship with God that is like giving our best friend the silent treatment. Hold on though, good news is coming. God has a plan to bring us back to Him because He loves us so much. In the meantime, this week think about why you do the things you do and whether they are things God wants you to do.
