Warm-Up
Let’s review the first thing we learned about God’s Game Plan. God made you __________ (on
purpose)!
“We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.” – Romans 8:28
The second part of that is God made you for a purpose!
Everyone on this team has different roles and responsibilities. Find a teammate and ask each other the following questions:
- What part do you play on this team?
- Do you think you have an important purpose?
Workout
One of my jobs as your coach is to come up with a plan that will help you be your very best and give the team its best chance for success.
But did you know that God has a plan for you too? It’s not just a plan for you as an athlete. It’s a plan for your whole life!
God’s plan isn’t just any plan. It’s a very good plan! And God lays out His plan for us in God’s Playbook, the Bible.
The Bible tells us that we are able to, “discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.” – Romans 12:2b
God’s plan for you will always involve three important things:
- Your skills.
These are things you are good at. So, let me ask you, raise your hand and tell me what you’re good at. (making friends, layups, base hits, ground balls, free throws, listening to our friends, being encouraging, being funny to brighten someone’s day) - Your passions are things you love. Raise your hand and tell me what you love.
(sports, building with Legos, art, being with friends, fishing, reading, video games). Basically, if you know what you really, really like or what makes you excited, you can identify what you’re passionate about. - Your gifts.
This involves how you can serve others. Once more, how can you serve others with your skills and passions? (hosting friends, serving teammates, encouragement)
Thinking aboutthose things will help you know if the plan is God’s plan!
And remember — God lovingly created you in His image so you can trust that His plan for your life is by far the best plan. Think of God as our Ultimate Coach. One of my jobs as your coach is to come up with a plan that will help you be your very best in this sport and give our team its best chance for success. With God, He creates a plan for our entire lives so that we can have the best path to success, peace, and joy.
Wrap-Up
Remember, God’s plan isn’t just any plan. It’s a very good plan! Remember, God, our Creator, made you on purpose for you to do great things in this world. He gives you the skills, passions, and gifts to do so.
Turn to the person next to you and say, “You have purpose.”
In the next few Huddle times, we’ll talk about how we know that we can trust God, His Word, and His plan for our lives.
Let’s close in prayer together:
“Dear God, thank You for giving me an important purpose in life. Help me to know your
plan and show me how to follow it every day. Amen.”
