Week 3: God Loves You pt 2

What is the first symbol? (Heart). What does it mean? (God Loves You)

Last week we talked about how God loves you so much He made you and loves you without conditions. “For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16

Today we will look at another truth that is really important for us to know: God is real, and He wants you to personally experience His love and discover His purpose of your life through a relationship with Him.

Real Word or Fake Word: players take a side by physically moving to the real or fake side

Q: Misunderestimate – is that a real word or a fake word? (fake)

Q: Cattywampus – is that real word or a fake word? (real word – it means off kilter)

Q: Scuppernong – is that a real word or a fake word? (real – fruit in the South)

Q: Nomophobia – is that a real word or a fake word? (real – fear of being without cell phone)

In the game you had to figure out if the word was real or not. We never have to wonder about whether God is real or not.

Have you ever looked up at the night sky? The Bible tells us that “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the expanse proclaims the work of his hands” (Psalm 19:1). All those stars, the planets and the moon tell us that God is real. Not only is God real but He wants you to have a relationship with Him so you can feel His love and learn His plan for your life.  “I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the lord. They will be my people, and I will be their God because they will return to me with all their heart.” – Jeremiah 24:7

Just like your coach gets to know you and helps you learn each practice. God wants to grow in relationship with you. We do that by reading our Bible and spending time in prayer (talking to God). Coaches also have a plan for each practice and game. This plan helps the whole team to succeed. God is the greatest coach and when we are on His team, He has a plan for us too. (Jeremiah 29:11)

Knowing that God made you, He loves you unconditionally, He is real and wants a relationship with you is really important. When we understand these things, it makes deciding if we want a relationship with Him easier.

Next week we will start to learn about how we get in the way of a relationship with God.
