Week 3: For A Purpose

Warm-Up

Remember our first truth? You were made on purpose for a purpose.

When people get older they start to think about, “What is my purpose?” This is a tough question, right?
Does anyone here want to guess what purpose means?

Purpose can simply mean your reason for doing something, or even deeper, the reason that you exist.
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do.” – Ephesians 2:10

Workout

As a group, let’s take a few minutes to talk about our purpose on this team. Is it to score points? Win games? To have fun? What do you think your purpose is on this team? (let them talk for a few minutes)

When an architect works, he or she plans out the building that will be built. There’s purpose behind each section. If it were all random work, the building would fail and probably fall down.

We are not here by accident or coincidence. Our lives are purposeful and intentionally designed by God.
God has a purpose for creating and designing us, a purpose that will not fail.

The Bible tellsus, “Many plans are in a person’s heart, but the LORD’S decree will prevail.”
Proverbs. 19:21(prevail just means they will happen no matter what.)

We are His workmanship and God has planned for us to purposefully do good works. When we give our lives to Christ and choose to live for Him, we take on His characteristics. God calls us to love others, give generously, help others, be kind and many other ways that we can show Jesus to others. We see this in our verse for this week: “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do.”

As we continue to practice today, remember that God made you for a purpose! And this purpose has already been planned by God for you to do. We just have to obey Him and His Word!

Wrap-Up

Let’s huddle up & repeat after me:
“God made me on purpose for a purpose!”

“Dear God, thank You for making me on purpose for a purpose. I know I am Your
workmanship and You have planned for me to do good works. I pray I continue to find joy in doing Your plan for me. Amen.”
