Week 2: I am made on purpose

Warm-Up

The first truth of God’s Game Plan is: I’m made on purpose for a purpose.

“I will praise you because I have been remarkably and wondrously made. Your works are wondrous, and I know this very well.” -– Psalm 139:14

  1. What’s the one thing you like the most about yourself?
  2. What’s the one thing about yourself that you’d most like to change?

Workout

Let’s discuss what we think purpose means.

Show of hands, who thinks your purpose lies in how well you play your sport, or how well you perform in school?

How do you feel when you don’t measure up?

So many of you think our worth comes from our performance. But as we’ll see in the next few Huddle Times, God has more in store for us.

Raise your hand if you feel good about yourself all of the time.

Raise your hand if you feel good about yourself just some of the time.

Most of us don’t feel good about ourselves all of the time or even most of the time. That’s because we are all humans and none of us are perfect.

But here’s some great news! In God’s eyes, you were made perfect. That’s a big deal because God is the all – powerful Creator of the universe. We learn this in Genesis 1:1:

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”

And God didn’t just create the heavens and the earth. He also created every single person that’s ever been born!

In Genesis 1:27, we also learn that “God created human beings in his own image… male and female he created them.”

That means you too! You were made in the image of God. God had something very special in mind when He created you, and it wasn’t a mistake — even in those times when you don’t feel so special.

Let’s read our Warm – Up verse again: “I will praise you because I have been remarkably and wondrously made. Your works are wondrous, and I know this very well.” – Psalm 139:14

That’s pretty amazing, isn’t it? So, the next time you’re not feeling great about yourself or your
performance, know that God created you and loves you just the way you are!

Wrap-Up

The most important thing I want you to understand is that God, our Creator, made you on purpose for you to do great things in this world. We’ll spend the next few practices talking about that!

I’m so excited to walk this path together this season! Let me pray for us as we finish up our Huddle Time.

Let’s pray together:
“Dear God, thank You for creating me on purpose and in Your image. Help me remember how much You love me every day. Amen.”
