Coach's Corner
Warm-Up
“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” – Jeremiah 29:11
This is the first week of our team meetings! Let’s kick it off with an activity!
Gather up in a circle, and one at a time, say one thing you want to achieve this season (ex. grow in your sport; talk to God through prayer every day).
Workout
Reflect on the answers you gave in the circle. How will you achieve the things you want to do this season?
Will you just think them, and they will magically happen?
Will you say them out loud and just expect them to become a reality?
Or will you actually do something, take the steps, and make the plans for these things to become achievable?
To achieve your goals, you need a game plan full of X’s and O’s; these are the plays and routes that will help you accomplish your goals. Every great coach has a game plan and every great athlete follows it.
Raise your hand if you have ever made a plan and then followed it. What was it?
Maybe you planned out a school project, then completed it.
Maybe you planned out a paper, and then wrote it.
Maybe you planned out a routine, and then followed it!
Whatever the plan was, you knew what you wanted to accomplish, made a plan to help you accomplish it, and then followed that plan.
But did you know that God, the Creator of the universe and everything in it, has a game plan specific for your life as well? The best part is that He’s already put it in front of you through His Word. He wrote clear truths and guidance for all of us, to help us accomplish a wonderful life! How amazing is that? Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us that God has plans just for us, and they are good plans!
“’For I know the plans I have for you’—this is the Lord’s declaration—’plans for your well-being, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.’”—Jeremiah 29:11
Repeat this with me, “God has a good plan for me!”
Again shout out, “God has a good plan for me!”
Over the next few weeks, we will dive into God’s X’s and O’s that make up His perfect and good game plan for us. It will be an amazing time to learn more about the Bible truths as a team and see how God’s game plan helps us win each day in our lives.
Wrap-Up
What would happen if we tried to bake a cake without knowing the ingredients or the instructions? Would it be a good cake or a bad cake?
We must ask or seek out help on which ingredients to use and how to use them in the exact steps. This will result in a good tasting cake.
Just like baking, let’s listen to this prayer as we ask Jesus to show His game plan to us:
“Dear God, thank You for giving us this time together. Show us and lead us through Your perfect game plan. During our time together, show us the ingredients that will help make up the perfect game plan that You have written for us. Thank You for writing it for us. Amen.”
