The FOUR Coach’s Devo 5

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 6:23

Actions have consequences. We coach this principle. When a player is caught cheating in school, drinking at a party, there are consequences for them and the entire team. When we don’t pass to the open player.  There are consequences. When we don’t run the offense. There are consequences. When we don’t believe in the game plan. Consequences, again.

We know this principle is true, but we often live as though it doesn’t apply to us. Our culture tells us to pursue what we want, how we want, when we want. But the truth is, when we live this way we are walking the opposite direction God wants us to walk. We are wandering further and further from Him.

The wages of sin is death. That means we are earning death. That principle is final and deadly.

In what areas are you walking away from God instead of toward Him?

Who in your life could act as an accountability partner to help you in that area?

Romans 3:23; Galatians 6:7-8

Take time to stand in God’s presence right now. Confess the areas you know you are walking away from God. Confess the sins you know you commit. Confess the sins you are not aware of and ask Him to open your eyes.
