The FOUR Coach’s Devo 2

Week 2

“So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” – Genesis 1:27

We use the word love an awful lot these days. So much so the meaning of the word is a bit lost. We love pizza and ice cream. We love this player or that one. We love our new job. We love our spouse and children. We love our team. We love the new athletic director. We love a lot of things or at least we say we do.

We’ve watered down the concept of love so much that we’ve forgotten where love came from: God. He loves us so much He created us in His own image. We are the image of God to everyone we come in contact with. He loves us in such a way that His love is boundless and unconditional. Paul tells the Romans in Romans 8:38-39 that once we have accepted Christ as our savior nothing can separate us from God’s love. God loved us so much He sent His own Son to pay the price for our sins on the cross.

We can love lots of things, but we’ll coach better and serve our families and teams better if we constantly remember where that love comes from and just how much love God has for us.

When is the last time you felt really loved?

How can remembering God loves you unconditionally help you as a coach?

Romans 8: 35-39; 1 John 4:16; Ephesians 2:4-5

“Lord, You are love. I cannot love well if I do not know You; grow my heart closer to You. Help me to love my team well this season. Thank You for loving me. In Your name, amen.”
