The FOUR 3&4

“But God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8

Last week, we learned that God created and loves us, but we have a big problem called sin. Today, we will look at what God did to give us hope. But what God did comes with a decision you need to make.

If you guys could be a superhero, who would it be?  (Coach, share your answer as an example and get a few responses).

While superheroes don’t really exist, there is One who did what was needed to save lives, and His name is Jesus.

JESUS RESCUES US

Last week, we talked about God and how He created us and loves us. But we also talked about the sin that separates us from Him. In His power, wisdom, and love, God did the only thing that could help us with our sin problem.

He sent His only Son, Jesus, to live as a man. Jesus lived His whole life and never sinned. But the powerful religious people labeled Him a blasphemer, someone who disrespects God. So, they killed Him by nailing Him to a cross. But He did not stay dead.

“…Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the scriptures.” – 1 Corinthians 15:3b-4

Jesus was raised from the dead!  God did not leave us in our sin.  He bridged the gap between He and all of us with the blood and life of His Son. By doing that, Jesus took all the punishment for that sin, sin that was not even His. Sin that is mine and yours.

WILL YOU TRUST JESUS?

What does that mean for you?

It means you don’t have to bear the burden of your sin.  You can choose to trust in what Jesus did on the cross and commit to following Him and loving Him and living as the Bible says. The Bible says,

“If you confess with your mouth “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation.” –Romans 10:9-10

This is the most important decision you will ever have to make, so please don’t just walk away from this question. Think about it…

Q: Will you trust Him?  Will you allow Jesus to be the Lord of your life and help you to live the way God would want you to live?

I will pray to end the huddle, but if you want to talk to me or someone else about following Jesus as Lord and trusting in His salvation, please talk to us today.
