“But God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8
Last week, we learned that God made and loves us, but we have that big problem called sin. Today, we will talk about what God did to help us.
WARM-UP
If you guys could have a superpower, what would it be? (Coach, share your answer as an example and get a few responses).
Superpowers and superheroes are not real, but God sent Jesus to be our hero.
WORKOUT
JESUS RESCUES US
You see, God loves us so much that He did not want sin to come between Him and us. So, He sent Jesus. Jesus was so good that He never sinned at all! But there were people in His community who did not like Him, so they killed Him even though He did nothing wrong.
But He did not stay dead.
“…Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the scriptures.” – 1 Corinthians 15:3b-4
Jesus came back to life! He not only took the punishment for sin that wasn’t His, but He came back to life too.
WILL YOU TRUST JESUS?
“If you confess with your mouth “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation.” –Romans 10:9-10
You can put your trust in what Jesus did by dying for your sins and coming back. But you need to make a choice and it is the most important choice you will ever have.
Q: Will you trust Him? Will you allow Jesus to be the Lord of your life and help you to live the way that you should?
