The CORE: Wrap Up & Review

Week 10 – Wrap-Up and Review

“Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with my righteous right hand.” – Isaiah 41:10

When we started the season, I asked you how many sit-ups you could do in a minute.  Today, as we wrap up our season, let’s see if we’ve strengthened our bodies.  We are going to do a plank off.  The winner will be crowned Plank King/Queen.  Everybody get into full plank position.

Coach can do this too or run the timer.  When knees go down the person is out.

Wow, you all have gotten much stronger this season.  I pray our spiritual core is also stronger.

We’ve worked on our spiritual core to be the best member on God’s Team.

First we got on God’s Team – (show The FOUR bracelet). Let’s review the symbols.

Heart = God Loves Us – He wants us to be on His team.

Divide = Sin Separates Us – What is sin? (when we do things our way instead of God’s)

Cross = Jesus Rescues Us – Jesus took the punishment for our sins because He loves us

Question = Will You Trust Jesus?

Then we learned that when we join God’s Team we have His power inside us. His power makes us new. It also means that God is with us and He leads us

Third we found out that we need to strengthen our spiritual core by training. We do this because it transforms us, motivates us and helps us know God.

Next, we started training. We started with prayer. Who remembers something about prayer?

– it is a conversation, we can pray anytime and anywhere, God is always listening, we need to listen as well as talk, we can tell God anything

Then we moved to learning God’s Playbook, the Bible.

Why do we need to read the Bible?  – it helps us learn about God; it shows us what God wants

What should you do when you finish reading the Bible?  – start again! We can read it over and over.

Have any of you started reading your Bible more? (celebrate that and encourage the rest to begin).

After the Bible we learned about the benefit of being with others from God’s Team. We already know that being on a team is great.  When we gather with others from God’s Team we are strengthened and encouraged.

Last we learned that we have a special role on God’s Team to serve and love others and one way we do that is by sharing about God’s Team with our friends.

We have truly strengthened our spiritual core this season. What a gift it has been to walk with each of you through these.

Let’s pray together.

Lord, we are grateful for this season of playing our sport and strengthening our spiritual core. As this season wraps up we pray that the things we learned this season about You and Your Word would take root in our hearts. Guide us as we become disciples who make disciples. Thank You for all that You have done and are doing in our hearts. We love you! In Jesus’ name, amen.”
