The CORE: Study God’s Playbook

Week 6 – Study God’s Playbook

“For nothing will be impossible with God.” – Luke 1:37

We are continuing to learn about strengthening our spiritual core. Last week we focused on prayer muscles. Today we will focus on Scripture muscles.

Show the players a complicated play on a piece of paper (lots of Xs and Os with arrows). Don’t explain anything.  Then ask them to run the play.

What happened?  Why didn’t the play work?

Every coach has a playbook. God does too. The Bible is like a playbook, guide, and training manual all rolled into one. It contains true and inspired words from the heart and mind of God.

There are three truths we need to know about God’s Playbook:

  1. The Bible is the Word of God – it is how we come to know God. It teaches us to how to live out our faith in Jesus. The Bible has the truth about who God is, who we are and what God wants us to do now and in the future.
    • What is something you know is true?
  2. The Bible is alive and active – it is not something you read once and are done with. Read the Bible every day to experience its power, to understand God’s truths, to know God more and to help you figure out how to live in this world.  God reveals new things that apply to your life each time you read His Word.
    • Name a book you read/or has been read to you more than once.
  3. The Bible is true – it is perfect and trustworthy because all the words in the Bible came from God Himself through different writers. It can be trusted as the perfect truth in your life.
    • Who wrote the Bible?

Let’s review.  The Bible is? The Word of God!

The Bible is? Alive and Active!

The Bible is? True!

There are a couple questions we can ask ourselves to help us learn when we read the Bible. First, what do these verses tell me about God?  Second, what do these verses tell me about people? Then consider who you might share those truths with and how you can obey those truths.

Additional Scriptures: Psalm 139; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Timothy 3:16

Things in life can get hard.  With God’s help and His instructions in the Bible we can get through those times.

Pray and break Huddle

We are so grateful that we have Your playbook, God. Give us wisdom as we read it. Help us find truth in its pages. Grow our desire to run Your plays. In Your name, amen.”
