Week 9: Share with Others
WELCOME
“Now I do all this because of the gospel, so that I may share in the blessings.” – 1 Corinthians 9:23
Building our spiritual core has one last part. In addition to praying and reading our Bibles and spending time with others on God’s Team we also need to ready to share all of this good news with others.
WARM-UP
Raise your hand if you like to share. Ask a few what it is they like to share. Raise your hand if you like to tell your parents or friends about your day. Ask a few why they like doing this. Raise your hand if you can talk.
That last question is a little silly, isn’t it? Today’s Huddle is going to teach us about how God wants us to share Him with others. If we can talk, we can share about God’s Team.
WORKOUT
Athletes have a lot of influence. Can any of you name a famous athlete who has had a big influence on you? What do they make you want to do? (buy their shoes, get their merch, earn a million dollars, try really hard). Just like those athletes, you have influence that God wants you to use to help others learn about God’s Team.
When we join God’s Team, we begin a discipleship journey.
Discipleship is a big word. Any ideas what a disciple is? (take a few guesses)
A disciple is someone who is in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church.
What are some things you are doing to grow your relationship with Jesus? (read Bible, pray, spend time in fellowship – hey we learned all of those things!).
We are on the discipleship journey our whole life. God wants us to invite others to join the team and go on that journey too! In the Bible, in the book of Matthew, Jesus tells his disciples that they need to make disciples of all nations. Where are some places you go each week? So, as you go to school, play sports, and hang out in your neighborhood, God is asking you to share about Him with the friends you are with.
One way we can invite others to God’s Team is by engaging, equipping and empowering them. We engage others through friendship and by sharing what we read in the Bible or learned in church, sharing the Gospel (week 1 – The FOUR) and praying with our friends.
We equip those we have engaged by helping them get into God’s Word just like you have. Last, we empower them to bring someone else on the discipleship journey too. It is a big cycle of disciples making disciples. More and more friends coming to God’s Team.
Additional Scripture: Matthew 28:18-20; Colossians 1:6; 1 Thessalonians 2:8; Ephesians 4:12; 2 Timothy 2:2
WRAP-UP
Using your influence to bring others to God’s Team is a very important role. The best news is that God is our coach on the discipleship journey. He is always with us.
Pray and break Huddle
“Lord, sharing our faith can seem a little scary. Make us bold so we can bring our friends to God’s Team. Show us who You want us to share with and guide us as we engage, equip and empower others. Thank You for this time and for this team. Amen.”
