The CORE Devo 9

“Now I do all this because of the gospel, so that I may share in the blessings.” – 1 Corinthians 9:23

Athletes and coaches are some of the most influential people in today’s culture. Our athletes dress like their favorites and we take coaching tips from ours. You have a unique opportunity as a coach to impact others with God’s Word and see the world transformed by Jesus Christ.

When you trust Jesus and surrender your life to Him, you begin a discipleship journey. This is a lifelong pursuit and process of becoming a fully devoted follower of Christ. Going through The CORE is just the beginning of becoming a disciple. The next steps require you to invite others on the discipleship journey.

  • Engage Others – God calls us to engage others through genuine relationships by sharing our lives and the Gospel. Look for the areas where you can engage others with God’s Word. This can include your home, community, school, team, church, and FCA Huddle. These are your circles of influence.
  • Equip Others – Once you have engaged others with the Gospel, God calls us to equip others to grow in Christ through God’s Word. Create a game plan to have a personal, passionate relationship with Jesus, and then go lead those on your team, family, and community to do the same.
  • Empower Others – When coaches and athletes are equipped with God’s Word and growing in their faith, we will see them become disciples who make disciples. The discipleship journey is a cycle. We are encouraged to not just hold onto our faith, but also to pass it on to others. God calls us to empower others to engage and equip others to know and grow in Christ.

A disciple is someone who is in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. With these CORE tools, you can start impacting others as they begin their training on God’s Team.

  1. Why is it important for us to share the Gospel and help people grow in their faith?
  1. What relationships do you need to intentionally engage with more?

“Lord, I am so excited and willing to glorify You. Help me to remember Your purpose and will as I reach my community. Thank You for guiding me on this journey. Amen.”
