Refuel 2

AND TO KNOW CHRIST’S LOVE THAT SURPASSES KNOWLEDGE, SO THAT YOU MAY BE FILLED WITH ALL THE FULLNESS OF GOD.”—EPHESIANS 3:19

Hey everyone! Today we are going to look at how talking to God can help refuel us.

Ask players to form a circle facing inwards and standing shoulder-to-shoulder. If you have a large group split up into groups of 5 or so. Each child begins by using their left hand to hold the left hand of the person next to them. Then, they cross and extend their right hand to have the person’s right hand on the other side.

How to Play: Once everyone has their hands crossed in front of them and are holding the hand of the people next to them then instruct them that they have to try to untangle themselves without letting go of anyone’s hand. They can adjust their grip, but they aren’t supposed to unclasp their hands. If they break they have to start all over, encourage them to work together and communicate as a team. If there are multiple teams then the first team to get untangled wins. You can play 1-2 rounds of this game.

Q: What was the hardest part about the game we just played?

In the game you had to talk to each other to untangle. It took all of you working together to get untangled.

Have you and your family ever taken a long trip? If so, you probably had to stop for gas. The longer you drive, the more gas you need.

We need to refuel sometimes too. Going to church and being around other followers of Jesus can help us to refuel, especially when we pray together.

Q: What fun things does your team like doing together outside of the sport? Do you get pizza together sometimes, or play an unusual game together at practice? (See if anyone has an answer)

When you see a team that does well, one reason is probably because they get along so well with one another. The best way to learn to get along is to just spend time together away from the sport.

The Church is the same way.

BIBLE STORY: Growing Church Prayer—Acts 2:42–46

Acts here shows us how the members of the church enjoyed each other, which helped them to grow closer. That also helped the church to grow. They did EVERYTHING together: they ate and sang to God and gave away all they had and did it together.

One key thing they did was pray or talk to God, together. They would talk to Him and thank Him for what He had done and ask Him to help them keep going. Sounds like fuel for your heart, doesn’t it?

FUEL UP WITH PRAYER

“PRAY AT ALL TIMES IN THE SPIRIT WITH EVERY PRAYER AND REQUEST AND STAY ALERT WITH ALL PERSEVERANCE AND INTERCESSION FOR ALL THE SAINTS.”—EPHESIANS 6:18

Remember, praying is so important, and praying together makes it even better.

Q: What are things we should pray for? (Get some answers, or even suggest a few things)

Next time, we will talk about another way to refuel. But for now, would anyone like to end our time by praying for us?

(Athlete or leader pray and break the huddle)
