WELCOME
“And may the Lord cause you to increase and overflow with love for one another and for everyone, just as we do for you.” —1 Thessalonians 3:12
Hey everyone! We have one more lesson to look at so we can BE READY. When we show and share our faith, we should also serve others because of our faith.
WARM-UP
Partner Questions
Since this is our last meeting together, I want you to find a partner and share what was one thing you have learned from this week?
Now find another partner and share your favorite activity/game you have done?
Lastly, find one more partner and share something you discovered that you need to work on once we are done here and you are back home.
Q: Can someone share what they plan to work on when they get home?
Who can share with me what they learned from this session?
WORKOUT
BIBLE STORY: Peter and Cornelius—Acts 10:1–43 (assign to read throughout the week)
Peter was a Jew, and in that time, Jews could not be around non-Jews (called Gentiles).
“Peter said to them, ‘You know it’s forbidden for a Jewish man to associate with or visit a foreigner, but God has shown me that I must not call any person impure or unclean.’” —Acts 10:28
A man named Cornelius was a great Christian but was not a Jew. God commanded Cornelius to go find Peter and bring him to his house. At this same time Peter had a vision from God:
“Again, a second time, the voice said to him, ‘What God has made clean, do not call it impure.’”— Acts 10:15
This vision was telling Peter that he can go and tell ALL people about Jesus, not just the Jews.
Peter got to share with everyone at Cornelius’s house the great news of God’s love for them!
WRAP-UP
GO SERVE
“Just as each one has received a gift, use it to serve others, as good stewards of the varied grace of God.” —1 Peter 4:10
Peter shared with people that his community wouldn’t approve of. That had to be scary. But God had shown him how to serve Cornelius, and his fear didn’t stop him from showing God’s love.
God also wants us to serve and love our enemies—people who think or look differently from us, and who even hate us because we follow Christ. The good news is that even though God called us all to serve others, He didn’t leave Peter, and He will never leave us.
Q: What can you do to serve ALL people in your community?
If you don’t know, it’s okay. Think about it or talk with your parents about it this week.
Pray and break the huddle
