Pursue Wk 1

Turn and talk to someone on the team – make sure you introduce yourself first!:

Q: What is a goal you have for this season?

Q: How do you plan on achieving this goal?

(after a couple minutes have people switch) Okay, what are some of goals our teammates have?

When we have a goal, we try to meet that goal – this is called pursuing a goal. Our word for this season is pursue. It means to chase after something.

As FCA athletes we are going to learn what it is God wants us to pursue. So, this season we will explore 8 different areas we should pursue: Truth, Faith, Life, Identity, Growth, Team, Focus and Mission.

Q: Is pursuing wins or awards wrong?

It isn’t wrong to have goals and dreams for your life. When we have something to pursue we sacrifice time and energy to accomplish it. Our passion paves the way for fulfilling our dreams.

God does the same for you. He pursues you. God loves you and accepts you as you are. Success is no longer defined by your skills because you are already a winner to Him.

Paul wrote our verse for this season to his young friend, Timothy. He instructs Timothy: “But you, man of God, flee from these things, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness” (1 Timothy 6:11) In our Huddle times this season we will learn about how to pursue the things God wants us to pursue.

Having goals and pursing them is not a bad thing. But there are some things God wants us to pursue as we grow in relationship to Him.

Let’s pray!

Lord, we are grateful for this new season and a new team. We are excited to compete together this season. Guide us as we learn the things You desire us to Pursue. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
