WARM-UP
Blind-Man Obstacle Course – pair up, one of you will be blindfolded and the other will be giving directions to get their partner from one end of the course to the other.
Q: How did your coach do at getting you to the finish?
Q: What was it like trying to give directions to get your athlete through the course?
Having a coach to guide you really helps!
WORKOUT
Q: How much better could you compete if you had the coach instructing you from inside your heart and mind?
The Scripture for this week is Jesus speaking. He says, “When the Counselor comes, the one I will send to you from the Father- the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father- he will testify about me” (John 15:26).
The Counselor is another name for the Holy Spirit. Counselor is a good name because that truly is who and what He is to us. Think about a runner running a race. The Holy Spirit runs with us and talks and listens to us along the way. We don’thave to go through any course or path on our own because He is with us. He is the Coach that lives within our hearts to help guide us every single day. We are not alone when we accept Jesus as our Savior and Lord because He gives us His Spirit to live inside of us!
Q: How much better could you play your game if you had an internal connection to your coach as you play?
We’d be unstoppable!! The Christian life is a challenging one, but we don’t have to do it alone. We have been given the wonderful gift of the Holy Spirit to always be with us in every challenge that awaits us. He stands with us against the opposing team. Encouraging us and strengthening us along the way. We can be victorious no matter what challenges come our way because of Who is within us.
WRAP-UP
The gift of the Holy Spirit living in us is one of the greatest gifts God could give us. It means we are truly never alone.
Let’s pray!
“Lord, we are grateful for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Give us ears to hear His coaching in our lives. Thank You that with the Holy Spirit living in us we are never alone. We love You. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
