Not in Vain
Ready:
“Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the Lord’s work, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” – 1 Corinthians 15: 58
Set:
The harsh reality of life is that sometimes, no matter how hard we work to reach a goal, it might not happen. As a coach, and even though you have been successful, your position could get cut due to budget. You can have the best game plan ever and the game can still not go your way. In this world, we have no control over outcomes. We can work hard each day, but our dreams for our lives might not happen.
There is work we can do that will never be in vain. 1 Corinthians 15 reminds us that our work for the Lord will have eternal impact and significance. If we are steadfast in our pursuit of the Lord, we have assurance that the work we put in will produce fruit. In coaching that might look like growth in teamwork, positive interactions with parents or providing wisdom for a player. you are doing this work not for yourself but for the Lord and His Kingdom. Things done in the name of God will not return void.
Go:
- When you work, who are you working for?
- How have you seen your labors for the kingdom produce fruit?
- How do you respond when a dream of yours doesn’t come true?
