Introduction

Hey everyone!  I am glad we have some down time together and get to learn some important things beyond our sport.

First, I am going to ask a question. If you could eat any food anytime you wanted, what would it be?  (Coach: ask if you can get each athlete to reply, but don’t force any answers. Then give them your answer).

As much fun as it is to eat those things, not all foods are good for fueling us as athletes. Some may taste good, but some are better at giving us what we need. More on that in the next few weeks. Right now, let’s pray and talk about where we’re going during our huddle times.

Father, thank You for slowing us down during these sessions and giving us time to talk. As much fun as our sport is, this time is important so please be with us and speak to us during these huddles. In the name of Jesus we pray, amen.

Our theme this season is 24/7, which means “all the time”.  24 hours a day and 7 days a week. What are some things you must do every day?  (Ask the athletes can give some answers).

We just talked about eating. We cannot eat all day long, but we need to eat every day.

How about rest? We need to sleep daily, or we won’t have energy.

How about brushing? We should brush every day, or our teeth won’t be strong. And it may even affect our health.

These sound like simple answers, but they are important. If we don’t eat or sleep or even brush our teeth, our health is at risk. Our ability to play sports is at risk.

How about spiritually? What are some things we should do every day? (Ask for replies.).

We should pray, or talk to God, every day. How about read the Bible?  We read it to know Him better, so we should do that too.

As humans, we can’t be on the go “24/7”. Sometimes, we must stop and Reset to help refresh our lives and our walks with Jesus. That can help us Renew our purpose through Jesus.

Next week, we will start looking at the need to Refuel. Once we have learned that we will be Ready.  Ready for what? We’ll find out later in the season.

One question for you to think about this week.

Q: How do I refuel now, in body and spirit?

We’ll get in deeper next week. For now, let’s close in prayer.

Father, again we thank You for just a few moments to have some fun but also to ask an important question. How are we refueling ourselves? Help us to think through it during the week to come. Help us finish strong today and come back next week to go deeper. In Your Son’s name, amen.”
