Week 2
WELCOME
Are you ready to start our glory journey? We will start with this key idea: We were created for God’s glory and not for our own. Today we will focus on the first part – We were created.
“Then God said, ‘Let us make man in our image according to our likeness.’” – Genesis 1:26
According to this verse, who made you? Whose image are you created in?
WARM-UP
Play “Simon Says”
When we play “Simon Says”, why do you copy the leader? What happens when you don’t?
In our lives we often copy others – famous athletes, older siblings or athletes, our parents but when we do that, we forget an important truth – God created you to be you.
WORKOUT
How many of you know the Creation story from the Bible? Let’s name some of the things God created. (heavens, earth, light, dark, sky, earth, seas, plants, sun, moon, stars, sea creatures, birds, wildlife). And last God created man in His image so He could enjoy a friendship with someone like Himself. So that means, every person ever born was created in God’s image because He loves us so much.
It seems like the world around us places high value on how we look so it is important for us to always remember the truth about who we are comes from God and His Word.
David writes in Psalms 139:13-14, “For it was you who created my inward parts; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I will praise you because I have been remarkably and wondrously made.” God does everything perfectly so that means you were created perfectly – just how God wanted.
WRAP-UP
The world is trying to tell that us that how we look is one of the most important parts of life, but we know that we are made in God’s image and God made us and God does not make mistakes so what the world thinks doesn’t really matter.
Let’s pray.
“Lord, thank You for creating us remarkably and wondrously. Thank You for making us in Your image and wanting a relationship with us. Help us to remember that everyone on this team and in our lives was created by You. In Your name, amen.”
We’ll break huddle with our hands in. I’ll say, “Whose glory?”
And you will answer, “God’s glory!”
Whose glory?
