God’s Glory Received – The FOUR pt 1

Week 6

Let’s review. Who is supposed to get all the glory?  Who sometimes takes the glory instead?

“The word became flesh and dwelt among us. We observed his glory, the glory as the one and only son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” – John 1:4

How did God reveal His glory on earth (who did He send)?

Here is a simple question for our warm-up today.  Who is the person that you would say loves you more than any other, and how do they show it? (try to get answers from everyone, leaders too

GOD LOVES US

Remember we learned that God created everything, including you and me. He even called His creation ‘very good’.  He really liked His creation.  Think about this: He loves you because you were created by Him.

SIN SEPARATES US

But we have that problem.  The problem is called sin.  After God formed man and, ultimately, woman, He gave them instructions.  One was to not eat the fruit of one specific tree.  Then Satan came along, dressed as a serpent, and tempted them to eat off that tree… and they did it.  “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God;” – Romans 3:23. Ever since they ate that fruit, we are separated from God.  He is perfect and holy, and we are not.  Instead of wanting Him, our nature wants everything other than Him.  It might be an athletic success, money, fame or something else.

At its root, sin damages our relationship with God as well as other people.  As a result, we are separated from God.

Q: Do you understand that God created you and loves you?

Q: How can you see sin in the world around us?

Even though God loves us, we are separated from Him for all time because of sin.  Thankfully, God provided a way to fix that.  Next time, we will look at what God did to save us with our only hope.

Let’s pray!

Lord, we are thankful that You love us. We know we do things we should not and that keeps us from being close to You. Thank You that you provided a way to fix that. Open our hearts to receive that message next week. In Your name, amen.”

Hands in, whose glory?
