WARM-UP
What are some rules in our sport?
Which rule do you have the hardest time following?
WORKOUT
How do you feel about rules? We don’t really like them do we? Sometimes we spend a lot of time figuring out how to bend the rules. In John 15:10-11 Jesus tells us to keep His commands. That is the first step to remaining in His love.
We think of commands as a bunch of rules or lame things meant to keep us from having fun. But, Jesus’ commands are actually how we live a life of freedom. Jesus knows the ways of life better than we do (He created life, so I think He would know how it works best).
Some of His commands are easy: love God and love your neighbor or pray. But some of His commands are a little harder: forgive others or admit you were wrong. All of His commands are meant to help us and when we keep them we remain in His love which leads to joy.
We learn about Jesus’ commands in the Bible. Reading our Bible is pretty important, isn’t it? We already learned we need to read it to get to know Jesus which will help us produce fruit and now we see it helps us learn Jesus’ commands so we can live life the way He wants us to.
WRAP-UP
We expect there to be rules or commands in our sport. We know there are rules in our house and at school. Rules are meant to keep us safe and help everyone do well. Jesus’ commands are the same and benefits of His rules are even greater. Our lives become more like Jesus and we get complete joy.
Let’s pray!
“Lord, give us a new perspective on Your commands. Help us to learn them and do our best to follow them. We want to remain in Your love and be part of Your Joy. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
Let’s break Huddle. Hands in! 1-2-3- Proven!
