WARM-UP
Copy Cat: Separate teams evenly. Have them stand shoulder to shoulder with their team. The first person in the group will make a noise or do an action that the leader does. The next person must do it after the first person does, and then one person after another does it. The team that copies the action accurately and fastest wins the point for that round. The first team to 5 wins. At the start of each round, the person who is last rotates to the first spot and everyone else rotates as well.
For the last half of our season we are going to concentrate on three goals: becoming more like Jesus, producing much fruit and proving to be His disciples.
WORKOUT
Share about a time when something you did in a game made your coach really happy.
It felt pretty good to see your coach so excited, didn’t it? Think back to when you just started learning (sport), you looked to the coach all of time. Making coach happy meant you were doing something right and that was important to you.
“My Father is glorified by this: that you produce much fruit and prove to be my disciples” – John 15:8. Jesus is telling us here what it takes to make God happy. It makes Him really happy when we produce much fruit – we talked some about that last week – and when we show ourselves to be on His team.
Let’s talk some more about fruit. In the Bible, we learn what fruit God is talking about. Galatians 5:22-23 says, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. . ..” When we have these traits or fruit in our lives, they are the proof that we are connected to Jesus.
Can we make these fruit grow on our own? No, we cannot. They come from being connected to Jesus.
WRAP-UP
The more time we spend with Jesus in the Bible the more fruit we will have in our life. It is exactly like our sport or anything in our life – the more time we spend doing it the easier it becomes.
Let’s pray!
“Lord, we want to produce fruit. Help us learn from the Bible and grow those fruits in our lives. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
Let’s break Huddle. Hands in! 1-2-3- Proven!
