Connecting to the Vine 1

Amoeba Tag – One person is it. When they tag another person they join hands and try to tag others. Each person who is tagged joins the chain until everyone is tagged.

How hard was it to not get tagged?

It was pretty hard to avoid the group once it grew. The group was stronger than the one person who was alone.

John 15:4 says, “Remain in me, and I in you. Just as a branch is unable to produce fruit by itself unless it remains on the vine, neither can you unless you remain in me.”

How many of you have ever had to pick up branches out of your yard?

Why do we pick them up and toss them away?

Can those branches grow into trees?

For a branch to grow it has to be connected to the tree. Jesus is telling us the same thing in John 15:4. He wants us to remain or stay connected to Him. But how do we do that?

God already proved His love for us and that He wants a relationship with us. He sent His Son, Jesus to save us from our sins.

Does anyone know what sin is?

You are on the right track! It’s when we do things our own way instead of God’s way. It looks like lying, cheating, hurting others, disobeying and being selfish. When we act this way we are no longer connected to God.

Not being connected to God is a big deal. We’ll talk more about that next week. It’s important to remember that God loves us and wants a relationship with us. He already proved that. Next time we will look at what God did to save us.

Let’s pray!

“Lord, thank You that You want to be connected to us and You provided a way for us to remain in you. In Your name, amen.”

Let’s break Huddle. Hands in! 1-2-3- Proven!
