Use Your Influence
Ready:
“A word spoken at the right time is like gold apples in silver settings.” – Proverb 25:11
Set:
Coach, what if the words you say to your players literally determine the trajectory of their lives forever? Imagine that your players will believe every word you speak to them, positive or negative, and your words will come true in their lives. Every one of them. The influence you have over your players is so strong, I encourage you to be intentional and careful about what you say. In many cases, your words have more power than parents, teachers, pastors and other authoritative figures.
Speak hope. Speak truth. Speak purpose. Speak faith. Speak courage. Speak life into your players souls as much as you can and trust God with what happens. We don’t always know the impact of our words so stay mindful of using them for God’s glory.
Go:
- What are 5 words of “life” that you can consistently speak to your players?
- Think about a time you saw the influence of coach on a player. How can you do the same with your players?
Workout:
Psalm 19:14; Psalm 141:3; Ephesians 4:29
Overtime:
“Heavenly Father, help me to use my words to give life to every player and coach that you have blessed me to have influence over. Give me the courage to speak and the words to say that each of my players needs to hear. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
