“My Father is glorified by this: that you produce much fruit and prove to be my disciples.” — John 15:8
SET:
The end of a season is a bit bittersweet. Seeing connections made among the team and the growth of new skills through the season is amazing. The mark of a proven coach is one who has helped players develop their skillset and cultivated a desire to continue competing.
There is no end of season for the believer who desires to be a disciple. Discipleship is a life-long endeavor marked by two things: producing fruit and proving to be Jesus’ disciple. The directions Jesus gives us on how to do that appear simple: connect to Him. Remain and fruit will be produced. Remain and keep Jesus’ commands. Remain and My joy will be in you.
After we are connected to Jesus and we cultivate our relationship with Him. In the time spent with Him in His Word and in prayer, we truly connect. When we do that, we are able to choose His ways and love others as He commands us to. Through all of that we grow a deep commitment to Him, even when the world tries to draw us away.
There is no greater investment we can make than in connecting to Jesus and cultivating fruit with Him. When we choose to love and follow His commands and remain committed to him, no amount of championships or D-1 caliber athletes will ever replace the joy of knowing Jesus and being His disciple.

“Lord, thank You for this season and the team. Thank You for giving us a way to connect to You and cultivate a relationship with You. Help me to choose to obey your commands and remain committed to You. I want to be proven as a disciple – give me what I need to do that. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
