READY:
“My Father is glorified by this: that you produce much fruit and prove to be my disciples.” — John 15:8
SET:
Choose and commit. One of these words is popular in our world and one not so much. As a culture we love to have choices. One might say we currently have way too many choices in just about every aspect of our lives. Commit is not as popular. As a culture, we hesitate to commit. We see this play out in athletics all the time. Professional athletes look for bigger contracts, no matter where it takes them. College athletes enter the transfer portal hoping to score bigger NIL opportunities. Even high school athletes open enroll or transfer schools for seemingly better playing opportunities.
You’ve chosen to coach this season and hopefully, you’ll commit to doing the very best you can. In our faith journey we get to choose whether to accept salvation or not. Once we do, there is a level of commitment. Our faith journey does not end with saying yes to joining Team Jesus. Proving to be a disciple requires commitment to producing fruit and keeping Jesus’ commands.
This season we will walk through the concepts of choose and commit. Our prayer is that as you spend time in Huddle each week your heart will find joy in the choice you made to follow Jesus and that your commitment to being a disciple will grow.
GO:
- How would you rank your ability to commit to things?
- Have you chosen to be a disciple of Jesus? If not go to https://thefour.fca.org/
WORKOUT:
OVERTIME:
“Lord, in a culture that embraces choices but shuns commitment we are grateful that You are steady in both. You are the only choice, and we thank You for giving us a way to have relationship with You. Grow our commitment to You. Be with us as we coach this season. Help us grow fruit in the lives of our athletes. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
