READY:
“For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever. Amen.” – Romans 11:36
SET:
Sacrifice seems to be part of the job of a coach. Giving up time with family, weekends, down time in general are sacrifices we make because we love the game and our team. But, what are we sacrificing for the Lord?
Paul’s letter to the Romans reminds us that all things are His and the glory belongs to Him, forever. In our coaching this means keeping the first things first. If you love the Lord, then He gets your time and attention before game plans and drill review. If you love the Lord, your reaction and response to the stress and constant demand of coaching reflects a Christlikeness that may surprise people.
How can we possibly consistently reflect God’s glory? Through a team. The power of a team is obvious to a team sport coach. The team works well when all the members are working together. God designed life that way as well. It is much easier to walk with the Lord with a team of fellow believers. It is much easier to grow and get through the hard times while surrounded by a team of believers. Having a strong faith team is one way to continue turning from chasing glory to giving Him glory forever.
