READY:
“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.” – Matthew 6:33
SET:
What are you worshipping? Is it a league championship? A newspaper mention? The adoration of your team? The perfectly executed game plan? We live in a culture that drives the idea of winning and success and shiny gold trophies but when we begin to worship those things our lives take on a fake tinge. We begin to hide and return to chasing glory.
When we follow Jesus and grow in our relationship with Him, we can achieve eternal awards. God’s glory is eternal and the hope of Heaven and eternity with Jesus are awards beyond compare. Life is really hard and there are days that feel so heavy and dark, but Jesus is there to get us through.
So don’t return to chasing glory. Keep moving forward with Jesus, God’s revealed glory for us. Spend time with Him so that you can reflect His glory all the way to eternity. It won’t happen all at once but in small ways every day as you spend time with Him in prayer and in His Word. Imagine the impact those small ways can have on your family and your athletes. The ripple effect of godly competitors in sports could change their lives and your entire community.
Coaching is a calling and when you coach with the Lord it is an act of worship. Matthew 6:33 charges us to seek God first and His ways and then everything else will fall into place. God’s way is real, and it lasts far beyond the temporary glory of trophies and wins.
