Triangle Drill Ground Balls

Setup- You will need a shortstop, a first baseman, and a catcher.

Movement- The coach will hit a groundball to the shortstop, who will then field it and throw it to first. The shortstop will follow his throw and get in line at first base. Once the first baseman catches the ball, he will immediately throw to the plate and follow his throw and get in line at home plate. Then, the catcher will flip the ball to the coach and run out to get in line at shortstop. The cycle will repeat itself continuously.

For younger players, move them in close and roll the ball instead of hitting from the bat until they’re ready to receive a harder ground ball.

Key Focus Points- The purpose of this drill is to keep athletes moving and following their throws to the bases they are targeting.
