Pickle Drill

Setup- You will need two bases spread out regulation distance apart.

Movement- This drill is used to simulate a baserunner in a rundown. One fielder will start with the ball and run back to the base. He will then get rid of the ball as the other fielder is calling for it. The fielder will then run the other direction and create the same motion. The fielders should also pick a lane to throw in and then peel off to that side to create space.

Key Focus Points- The focus of this drill is to emphasize communication and being able to get the ball in and out of the glove to get the runner who is in a rundown out. Ideally, you want to do this in three or less transfers of the ball.
