One on One Closeouts

Set up: An offensive line beyond the 3-point line and a defensive line on the opposite side of the lane near the baseline.

Movement: The defensive player will roll the ball out to the offensive player.  The defender then sprints ¾ of the way out towards the offense.  The defender then chops feet and drops down into a good defensive stance.  The defender can close with one hand high and one low or with both hands high.  This drill can also be played “live” – offense vs defense after initial closeout.

Key Focus Points: Proper closeout angle between offensive player and basket.
