Players will split up into two single file lines. Each line should have either a coach or a quarterback to pass the ball. Make sure lines are spread out enough so routes wont run into each other.
One at a time, players will begin to jog the pattern assigned to each line. You may assign any of the routes in the route tree. However, the point of this drill is to focus on catching the ball while moving. So, have players start at the end of the route as they jog to catch the ball. A crossing route and a curl are great routes for this.
KEY FOCUS POINTS
- Catching the ball away from the body using their hands.
- Looking the ball all the way into the hands.
- Tucking the ball away after the catch.
