Infield Pre-Pitch Routine

Setup- You will need a baseball and a space for the athletes to get into their pre-pitch routine.

Movement- The coach will toss the baseball into the air. The movement for the fielder is right foot then left foot and a little hop (for lefties it would be left foot first instead of right). The goal is that while the ball is in the air the fielder would get his right and left foot down and the little hop would be synced to when the ball hits the ground. This will simulate the ball being hit.

Key Focus Points- The purpose of a pre-pitch routine is to promote engagement and focus for the fielder. It is much harder to be ready for the baseball to be hit at you when you are standing stagnant than when you are already moving and anticipating it coming your way.
