WARM-UP
Play Telephone – line team up, give the last person a message that must be passed up the line by whispering.
Q: How did we do at sharing the message? What are some things that made sharing the message difficult?
Q: What is something you do not like to share with other people?
We are half-way through our season and we have already learned a lot. We know that if we are disciples of Jesus should choose to obey His commands. Last week we learned that He commands us to love one another. This week we see another important command.
“‘Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.’” — Matthew 28:19
WORKOUT
Let’s imagine you have the most delicious slushie you have ever had. It has the perfect mix of flavoring and little ice pieces. You take one sip, and then another and then another. You run back to the field to tell your teammate they just HAD to try it. Your teammate drank some too and you both agreed, it was the best slushie you’ve ever tasted.
You couldn’t keep it to yourself because it was just that good; you just had to share it!
That is what Jesus is asking us to do when He commands us to go and make disciples. He wants us to be so excited about our relationship with Him and how great it is that we cannot help but share it with others. That might sound kind of scary but we have a great tool we can use – The FOUR. (If you can, give one FOUR bracelet to each athlete and have them practice sharing with a partner. If not go over each symbol and what it means again.)
WRAP-UP
Back to the delicious slushie, you could’ve kept it to yourself. Remember, you sipped on it for a while: it was quite valuable to you. But it was too good not to share with your teammate. Jesus is too good to not share with others. Keep practicing and be bold!
