Week 2

God’s Game Plan

Coach’s Devotional

“I will praise you because I have been remarkably and wondrously made. Your works are wondrous, and I know this very well.” – Psalm 139:14

Can I ask you an important question? Why did you become a coach? Have you been preparing for this moment your whole life? Or did circumstances throw you into this position?

Whether you believe it or not, you were called to this position for this group of athletes. You are called to coach!

That is the fundamental truth we want to focus on this week:  You were made on purpose for a purpose.

We are made uniquely and specifically to resemble God so that others know we belong to Him. Genesis 1:27 says, “So God created man in his own image; he created him in the image of God; he created them male and female.”

We are made on purpose to show off God’s love. As coaches, we have the incredible opportunity to model this to our athletes. Teaching young athletes that God made us on purpose and for a purpose is incredibly impactful. Coach, your life matters. Right now, God is using you as a coach to do His great work in the lives of these athletes.

Why do you coach?

What purpose might God have for you in coaching?

1 Corinthians 1:26-29; Proverbs 19:21; Ephesians 3:20

“Dear God, thank You for creating us in Your image and choosing us for a unique purpose. Open my eyes to see my calling and purpose as a coach. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
