Week 1: Introduction

Coach’s Corner

Warm Up

Hello, everyone! I am so glad you can join us these next few weeks as we discover and learn about God’s game plan.

I want you to partner with the person next to you and tell them step by step how you brush your teeth. (Give this three minutes.)

There are specific steps you have to take to brush your teeth successfully. What happens if you don’t follow those steps? That’s right, stinky breath! Sticking to the steps helps us accomplish our goal!

Before we dive into our devotion, let’s go to God in prayer:

“Heavenly Father, thank You for each kid here. As we start this series, I pray that You’ll open our hearts and minds to hear what You are trying to tell us. Help us to be brave with what we learn. Amen.”

Workout

Now, Can anyone tell me what a game plan is? (Let a few kids answer.)

Yes! A game plan is a list of items to help you reach your goal. For example, if you desire to win a race, you need a set of steps that help you achieve that goal.

What are some of the things you would need to do to help you prepare for the race? (Take a few answers.)

Those are big steps! As you can tell, winning the race will take some work, but it’s worth the work because of the prize at the end.

What if I told you that God has a game plan for your life?

That sounds pretty neat. Can anyone guess the prize at the end of this game plan?

Those are all great guesses, but the reward we will receive if we follow God’s game plan is to live with Him forever in Heaven! Life on earth can be hard sometimes, and God knows that, so He provided His Word as a guide to help us know Him! (What’s His Word called? That’s right, the Bible.)

Over the next few weeks, we will learn three truths the Bible tells us about following God’s game plan and living forever with Him!

These truths are:

  • Truth 1: You were made on purpose for a purpose.
  • Truth 2: You can trust God and His Word.
  • Truth 3: God loves you and sent Jesus.

After learning about these three truths, we are responsible for taking action. Here is our action step:

  • Action: Love God and love others.

Wow, that’s a lot of stuff we will learn; having our teammates’ help us is good!

Wrap-Up

  1. Do you think knowing what the Bible says is important? Why?
  2. What most excites you about God’s game plan?

“Lord, thank You for this day which You have given us. Help us be excited to learn more about everything You have planned for us, Amen. “
