The FOUR 2

“For Christ also suffered for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring you to God.  He was put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit,” -1 Peter 3:18

Last week, we learned that God created and loves us, but we have a big problem called sin.  Today, we will look at what God did to give us hope.  But what God did comes with a decision you need to make.

Think about this question: what is the hardest decision you have ever had to make?  Did you have to choose one direction or another?  Did you need to have a hard conversation?  (Get a few answers, then coach share.)

As you grow up, there will be tough decisions you need to make.  But there is one that is more important than all the others.  More on that in a bit.

JESUS RESCUES US

What does it mean to be in debt?  It means you owe someone.  If someone loans you money, you are in debt to them.

We have sin inside of us, so we have a debt.  Our sin goes against the perfect and holy God Who created us.  We owe Him bigtime!  It is a debt we cannot pay.  Nothing we can do can pay that debt.

But then God sent His Son Jesus.  Jesus lived a sinless life and ended up being nailed to a wooden cross.  He died on that cross, and as 1 Peter 3:18 said, Jesus was 100% righteous and He died to pay our sin debt.

But He did not stay dead.  He came back to life.  Because of all this work He did for us, we can be forgiven and have a relationship through Jesus with God, our Creator.

WILL YOU TRUST JESUS?

To be forgiven of your sins, you need to put your faith, or trust, in what Jesus did on the cross.  The Bible says,

“If you confess with your mouth “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation.” -Romans 10:9-10

This is the most important decision you will ever have to make.

Q: Will you trust Him?  Will you allow Jesus to be the Lord of your life and help you to live the way God would want you to live?

I will pray to end the huddle, but if you want to talk to me or someone else about making Jesus your Lord and trusting in His salvation, please talk to us today.

(pray and break the huddle)
